Urge to Purge
Last Saturday I joined my women's bible study on Zoom. During our chit-chat time, while we waited for ladies to join, we were talking about all the spring cleaning we have been doing and someone said we have the urge to purge....
I started thinking about the bad habits I've gotten into over the years that I can purge now that I have this extra time. Time with no evening practices and nowhere to go. I was reminded of the scripture in 1 John 1:7
What darkness do I need to purge to be able to walk in the light? What daily sins do I commit that I can pray about and let God help me get rid of?
I can think of several...harsh words, judgmental thoughts, & anger to name a few. This takes daily, intentional effort to pray about to be rid of. God tells us it is possible!
When we walk in the light, we have fellowship with one another....we take care of each other. When we purge those dark corners from our hearts, we are then open to fellowship with one another, to receive Jesus love from one another.
Admittedly, it has been a while since I have joined in on bible study. When we open ourselves to the spirit, to Jesus, we are drawn closer to Him. I experienced God drawing me in last week and in return, I was greeted in fellowship with my sisters in Christ who love me & who pray for me.
I pray today that you purge those dark places in your heart, and that you are greeted with fellowship with one another....even in this time of quarantine.
Walk in the light, and be cleansed from all sin.
