The Joy Of The Lord Is My Strength
I was thinking today about the joy that fills my heart when I am able to let go... When I lay my fears and burdens down at the feet of Jesus, I am filled with a peace that brings joy to my heart in abundance so heavy, my cup overflows! It requires genuine prayer and genuine repentance.
I know, in the moments of struggle, God has my life under control, it is all figured out, the path is laid out before me, and I trust that God has better things planned for me. I am able to let go and live life to the fullest, the way God intended for me. When I invite the spirit into my heart to change me, I see beauty all around me and I am able to see God everywhere.
When your heart is filled with joy, there is little room for the evil one to move in. There is no room for bitterness, hurt, and regret. The big question here is, how do we make room for joy to enter into our heart? The easy answer to the question is prayer. Not just praising but repenting. Asking God to remove all the negative feelings from you. Confessing your sins and asking for forgiveness. Forgiveness that comes from repenting. Forgiveness that keeps you from making the same mistakes over and over again. Its and easy answer, but it takes an intentional effort, it takes time, it takes practice, and it takes courage...It is anything but easy.
This is where I struggle, clearing my mind, stopping it from racing long enough that I can talk to God. Really talk to God. I tell myself I don't have time. If I'm being honest, I do have time, I can always make time for the ones who are most important to me. I just need to practice.
I pray today, whatever you are going through, you feel the joy of the Lord and let it strengthen you. That we make time for God, and trust the spirit to move. That we go in faithful confidence with the one who loves us most. The one who promises to be our rock, our redeemer. The Most High Jesus Christ, who calls us to take up our cross and follow him.
I pray you lay your burdens down, ask for forgiveness for your sins, pray for our country and our world, give it to God, let his strength and peace wash over you. God is for us. When God is for us, nothing can stand against us.
Go in peace, and let joy be your strength!
