Love like God loves
Friday night I had the honor of speaking to a group of confirmands at my church. Today was the big day. I sat in the pew, watching them confess their faith. Boldy. Publically. Beautifully. My heart was bursting with pride and joy. These 12 aren't just kids. They are MY kids.
Kids I spent 4 years (2nd grade through 5th grade) teaching in Family Faith Night (Sunday school...sort of). We learned the New Testament books of the bible, we learned about the beatitudes, we learned Psalm 23, and we learned about what it means to follow God.
We shared highs & lows weekly, we prayed together. We talked. When grandparents were sick, when kids weren't nice at school, when life happened...we lived it together. We loved each other.
1 John 4:19 says, "We love because God first loved us." God calls us to live in relationship with each other. To love others with the grace and magnitude in which God loves us.
Can you imagine the world where people just love each other? Through faults and differences? To me, it's a beautiful vision. It's a vision God has for this life. Change starts with us. I pray you love others the way God loves you. Genuine, pure, unfailing love.
