Living for Jesus
I was talking with my closest friend today about God's calling on our lives and what that means. I feel that God calls each and every one of us to love. You may know the scripture well...
Matthew 22:37-40 - 37 Jesus replied:“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a]38 This is the first and greatest commandment.39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b]40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
The thought crossed my mind today, what if God's great plan for us is simply to love. To show kindness and compassion to everyone you encounter. To pray for those who need it, to lend a helping hand, or a listening ear. What if, by showing kindness and love to others, you are living out God's calling for your life and you haven't even realized it.
God calls us to be light bearers. To proclaim the good news, to LIVE it out. I believe the question is not, "what is God calling me to?" but rather, "what does proclaiming the good news mean to me?" For me, it's a call to share my stories. For others it may be helping whenever and wherever you are needed, and others feel a call to serve in other ways.
Instead of thinking you aren't enough, consider that you are already fulfilling the call Jesus has on your life, a call to live for Jesus.
Sharing the good news and loving others looks different for each of us. Some people look at you and see Jesus, whether you know it or not. It takes all of us, living out the call God has on our lives, being Jesus' hands and feet, collectively, to show the world Jesus is alive!
What does living for Jesus look like to you?
