He has overcome the world
Updated: May 4
I was talking with a good friend today, and our conversation turned to the weather. He said, "It's going to be a gloomy rainy day, but we need days like that for the leaves and grass to grow". This simple statement had me thinking all day long...
My mind immediately thought of how my faith gets stronger when times get tough. If we lean on Jesus in our struggles, the gloomy days will help us grow. I was reminded of Jesus' words in John 16:33, "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."
For some of us, these days of quarantine and isolation have brought us many trials and sorrows. I know I have been feeling more low days than usual without my normal routine. My job is an escape for me. A place where I am needed and appreciated. Without it, I am not quite whole.
There is heightened tension in my household sometimes. Most days my 4 children and I get along just fine but others, especially these rainy, gloomy days, where we don't spend most of the day playing outside, it can be tricky. It's not an easy task to manage home school and working from home. It's hard to keep the kids busy with different activities to keep them engaged, active, and working. But days like these help to mold and shape us. When the trials and sorrow come, our faith is strengthened. Jesus says, "take heart", which means, be courageous. In this verse Jesus reminds us he has overcome the world, nothing is impossible for those who believe.
Be courageous, we will get through this time.
Be courageous, God has overcome, and He is for YOU!
I had the opportunity to spend some time at work recently. I was one of 3 people in the building. We maintained our social distancing, and it felt so good to have a sense of normalcy. To be in a place that feels like home to me....outside my home! I remember thinking how good my soul felt while I was there. I had a break from the monotony, I was so grateful.
I pray that you give yourself a break from life as we know it, currently. Find some way to free your soul, even if for a little while. Surround yourself with love and happiness...go for a walk, catch up with a friend, read the bible outside. Look for Jesus in everything. Find peace.
Remember, this time will end, this quarantine will not last forever, I pray you let it strengthen your faith.
