God is the door!

Updated: May 30

I'll be the first to admit, I have been distracted the past couple of weeks. I've been so busy with life, I got out of the routine of connecting with God. Because I haven't been connecting, I haven't been hearing God's call for me to write. I thought God gave up on my blogging call. I doubted God. I doubted myself.

After a weekend in the country, a much needed switch in routine, I realized the part that I was missing was connecting with God. In all the busyness of my life, God never left me, I left Him...

I starting thinking about how relationships work. When you make a new friend, they don't instantly and automatically know your life story. It takes time to build trust, it takes an intentional effort to open up to that person. It's not just about talking, it's about listening. And taking the time to care. Why would building a relationship with God look any different?

So much of our world is at our fingertips. We live in a society where we can access any item to purchase or gather any information we need. I feel by living this way, we expect a quick fix for everything. We seek out ways to connect with God. We read blogs and listen to podcasts, we go to retreats and diligently take notes. Don't get me wrong, I want you to keep reading my blog posts, however, I think to connect with God, we need to do more.

It's about praying, then listening, it's about cultivating a relationship with God. Taking time to build it, being intentional and caring for it. I think it's important to remember faith is a journey. We are all at different places on our walk with God and God loves us no matter where we are. Even if our journey hasn't started yet!

I also have to remind myself that there is no finish line when it comes to your faith. Nobody every has God figured out. In fact, I was reminded that we all interpret things differently. Not one person is right or wrong. It matters how God speaks to your heart.

When I am able to seek God in all that I do, when I'm able to cry out to Him and listen for His guidance, my life is different. I am changed. It is in those times when I have more of Jesus and less of me.

My prayer for you today is you open the door. Jesus is knocking, waiting for you to open it, waiting and wanting a relationship with you! What are you waiting for?
