Why is joy an elusive feeling? Perhaps we are so caught up in the busy of our life... work, meetings, practices, games, chauffeuring the children, not to mention all the household chores...We have responsibilities. Bills, grocery shopping, work, keeping your marriage alive.
Who has time to enjoy the day? Every day and most evenings are full. Everything has to get done so what are we supposed to do about it?
Psalm 47:1 says, "Come everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise!
I was skimming through notes from a past retreat, and saw a note encouraging myself to start the day with praises to God. I've gotten away from that. I often pray but rarely praise.
I pray that each of us carve a few minutes each day to find joy, shout your praises to God! Recognize joy when you find it. As time goes on, make those joyful moments last a little longer, until we have trained ourselves to look for God. Then our hearts will burst with pure joy.
Romans 15:13 - "I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit."
